India’s relation with Republic of Korea (RoK) have made great strides in recent years and have become truly multidimensional, spurred by a significant convergence of interests, mutual goodwill, and high-level exchanges. India played an important and positive role in Korean affairs after Korea’s independence in 1945. Since then until today, the relations between the two countries have brewed only better. India and South Korea implemented the CEPA (comprehensive economic partnership agreement) in January 2010. The bilateral trade between the countries stood at $16.59 billion in 2015-16.
Mr. Phil Woon Lee, Mayor Anyang City, South Korea paid a two-day visit to Kolkata with a group of 12 Business Delegates for Indian Korean Business Promotion. At an event held at a hotel in Rajarhat-New Town area, the Korean delegates met and discussed business opportunities with the Indian companies today. The event was attended by members of Salt Lake Sector V Stakeholder’s Association, Indian Chamber of Commerce. The President of Korean Association of Kolkata, India Mr. Jun Rae Cho said “There are more Korean Companies showing interest in West Bengal and in the recent times more companies would be visiting the state for collaborations and partnerships”
